Writing Experience!

Where can I start? I just finished my freshman year in high school and in my English I class, we did a lot of writing. I’ve always loved English so it came naturally to me. My teacher, Mr. Hennessey, taught me so many things about English and I think I’ve become a better writer because of him. I never had an English teacher like him in my entire life. We wrote many rhetorical device essays, short stories, and read many books. I loved writing the RD essays because I got a chance to utilize ethos, pathos, and logos, and the other rhetorical devices. The only times we would do an essay with a thesis was when we had to do something called an OER. For example, if it was about a book like, Life of Pi, we would have to answer a prompt, and then use devices to explain our argument about it. Anyways, so far, I love my writing experience in high school and I can’t wait to experience more in 10th grade!

  1. I liked reading your blog, Ashley. I’m certain most of us have had an English teacher that introduced a fun perspective on writing that changed the way we think about it. My fourth-grade language arts teacher was one of the prevailing forces that led to my interest in writing as a hobby. She taught me that experimenting with different writing styles would lead to me developing my own.
