Blog No. 4 To The Very End: Final Thoughts

Summer Scholars Academy was a lot more awesome than I had expected. I learned a lot about PCR and got to do a lot more hands-on work in 'DNA and You' with Dr. Bob Jonas. I thought it was cool how we got to do a lot more involved work than we were typically allowed to do in high school, and learn new, college-level information. I also feel that I learned and improved more in the two weeks I spent in Professor Bost's class than I had in the years since learning to write speed essays. I really liked the idea of free-writing and found it to be very releasing. I enjoyed the photographic essay quite a bit as well (I think it was mostly because I got to demonstrate my art skills in it too.) It was unlike anything I ever did in any English or writing class, and was a unique experience. These experiences taught me a lot more about what college will be like, and I have had one of the greatest learning experiences here at Summer Scholars Academy. It will motivate me to work hard and persevere through the upcoming school year in the fall, by looking forward to going to college. It will help me work through my tough homework loads knowing that I've gone through worse homework-hardships while here at Summer Scholar's Academy, and quite frankly, I made it out alive and a lot stronger and smarter than I was before. I really got to know a lot of people and it was really great to feel part of a community like the Summer Scholar's Academy. I'll never forget the friends I made here.
