LOG 1: The Making of a Kaleidoscope

I consider my previous high school writing experiences somewhat like a kaleidoscope. Each individual essay offered a unique perspective on my core values while still utilizing the same basic set-up. First, I would methodically construct a clear thesis that would deliver specific, coherent details on my stance on the prompt. Secondly, I conducted research with an open-mind, willing to learn new on subjects that I believed I knew well. One must always remember that one can gather more knowledge to better his or her chances of getting across his or her ideas, after all. In essence, I would open myself to all the information found while critically observing the invalidity of some resources. One must be entirely conscious of the rationality his or her sources employ, being sure to reevaluate the author of the source’s credentials. Writing a convincing essay depends on the writer’s effort in visibly proving their arguments with effective supplementary evidence from outside sources.

  1. Very well written. It is great that you keep an open mind when you are researching information. Research projects are a great way to learn about more information and a great way to learned a about yourself since you are looking up a topic you may not be familiar with.

  2. Very thoughtful, Lucas. The kaleidoscope metaphor is very clever--and appropriate to the topic. Even for college-level writers, it is often difficult to keep an open mind to new ideas during research.
