Blog 3; My Experiences While Writing

During the essay-writing process I discovered how much passion has to do with good quality writing. At first my paper was going to be about misconceptions about Christians, but after writing out one of the misconceptions I realized that I really wasn't that passionate about the subject. It took me a long time just to write one misconception and it was just more tedious than fun. That's when I decided to start from square one with a subject I am passionate about: blindness. After starting over with a new subject, I realized that words were just flowing out of me because I had so much to say. It also went a lot faster because writing about a subject I'm interested in made it genuinely fun. I also learned that I need to hold myself back. If I wrote everything I wanted to say on the subject, I would have had at least ten misconceptions and it would've been a long rant. So passion can be extremely helpful and it can drive you to write, but too much of it can hinder you and make your writing unprofessional.

  1. I know I faced almost the same problem. I thought, “I go to an all-girls school, and there are so many misperceptions about what that experience is like, I should do a paper on that!” But honestly I don’t really care about those misperceptions enough. I think it’s great that you are so fervent about the issues blind people have to face.
